John returns to Lancaster with knowledge power
Specialist agricultural lawyer John Myers has just returned to the fold after a 12- month sabbatical in Germany.
Whilst there, he worked for Schwarz Thomson, a Berlin-based law firm which specialises in agricultural law and, in particular, renewable energy matters.
John acted for clients seeking to develop sites for small scale solar park projects in England, following new legislation introduced last April.
Work included identifying potential sites through agents and landowners in England and a series of organised and targeted seminars.
However, whether any sites can be developed now depends on the outcome of a Government Review.
“The sabbatical really broadened my expertise and perspective.” explained John, who hails from Pateley Bridge near Harrogate.” It was a really good experience which, I hope, will enable me to assist our clients in the future. I have learned such a lot.”
John, who studied agriculture at Newcastle University and then Law at York Law College, is a key member of the firm’s agricultural law team and a member of the Agricultural Law Association.
He deals with the sale and purchase of farms and rural property, agricultural tenancies, land registration, common land and a broad range of other areas of agricultural law.
