Leading Lancaster law firm join in campaign to secure the future of Lancaster Castle

Oglethorpe, Sturton and Gillibrand are taking a leading role in the campaign to secure a future for Lancaster Castle.

Partner David Gillibrand is working with David Taylor from Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, to help find the best possible commercial use for the Castle.

Since the last inmates left the prison, as part of the government cut backs in March, the castle has stood empty without any clear plans for future development.

David strongly believes Lancaster could become a major tourist attraction equal to Chester or York if the city’s former prison is developed in the right way.

“The castle, which also houses Lancaster Crown Court, already runs small tours for visitors and potentially could house a hotel, restaurants and exhibitions” said David Gillibrand.
